Last week of work before the wedding

This last week of work before taking off time for the wedding has been too long and too short. Too long, because I really want to be doing other things. And too short, because I need to be doing other things, but work has been crazy-busy.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy my job and love the people I work with. It's just that flowers are coming on Wednesday, and I still need to pick up the cape from StageManager Extraordinaire's husband and find more trays for WonderMom-o-7 for all the food and more people to help her in the kitchen during the reception. Plus tonight there's a band gig at Thanksgiving Point (charity ball at the Show Barn, if you're into giving for charity). Then tomorrow is Sweet-Sweet Lady and The J-Man's wedding.

Does everyone start panicking the last week before the wedding? I hope so. I don't want to be the only one who's ever gone through this.

How does a girl get to be so lucky?

I seriously work with the best people in the world. My friends surprised me with a gift card from Target and this lovely (and delicious) cake. As you can see, we ate the whole thing (with one piece left for Mr. Perfect).

A request for more wedding photos

I've had a request for more pictures from the engagement and bridal sessions, so here are some more of our favorites.

Backyard Dancing at school

So, Beatles Lover, Shnq Girl, Ice Melter, and The Brain performed O.K.Go's Backyard Dancing at the school talent assembly. The camera was doing fine, until I tried some zooming, at which point it decided that its battery just wasn't adequate enough to last, and died. I was able to get it going again (after missing about a minute of the action), so here it is in two parts, with a bit missing in the middle.

What wonderful friends I have

On Friday, Most Happy Girl's wonderful friends, Tarzan's Girl and Crazy Writer Lady, threw her a Pampered Chef shower. A great time was had by all. Mr. Perfect probably had more fun picking things from the wish list than I did. Queen Chef Susie was a very fun consultant. We made strawberry triffle, and I got to play with a lot of great kitchen utensils. What more could a girl ask for? Pictures (graciously taken by Skywalker's Mom ) will be posted later.

Random things coming together

Things are really starting to come together.

  • WonderMom-o-7 is doing amazing things with food in ways I never imagined would happen. The spread will truly be a sight to behold.
  • Most Happy Girl's mother has also been working furiously on the veil and a shawl for Super Swim Chick. Mom is my hero. She has done everything possible to make this wedding beautiful with as little stress for me as possible. I can't thank her enough.
  • Friday is bridal and engagement photos. I need to call the photographer and confirm the date/time/place. We're very excited.
  • It also looks like we might be done addressing invitations. Wah freakin' hoo!

The Great Invitation Addressing Marathon has begun

So last night Mr. Perfect and Most Happy Girl spent a couple of lovely hours addressing wedding invitations. Granted, we are doing what we can to make this as easy as possible. We have labels for the return address, and we're printing the mailing addresses on the envelopes. Yes, I know, all you Martha Stewart fanatics out there, that this is considered taboo, but I don't care. My hands and wrists are loving me at this time. However, my tongue is not enjoying the taste of envelope glue. Yuck! At least the stamps are self-adhering.

Random wedding showers, and not for me! (huzzah)

Tonight I'm going to a friend's wedding shower. When I tell people where I'm going, they ask me if it's for me. NO. Sweet-Sweet Lady and The J-Man are getting married exactly one week before us. I will be on the look-out for things I don't want at any of my three (yes, count 'em, THREE) showers, like silly party games and stuff like that. What a woman with a complete household of stuff marrying a man with another complete household of stuff needs with three wedding showers is beyond me. But people keep offering to give them to me. I have the best friends.

Happy reading, my little pupils.

Best random wedding advice

  1. The most important things are who you are marrying and where you get married.
  2. Don't stress too much over the food, decorations, wedding cake, flowers, etc. Five years from now, they won't matter at all. (Plus, it's not like you'll be eating a lot of the food, anyway.)
  3. Don't go anywhere on your honeymoon that you'll be sorry you didn't see or do everything. Don't go on a "once in a lifetime" trip.

Wedding invite mock up

Here's a preliminary mock-up for the wedding invitation. My wonderful brother-in-law, Painter Extraordinaire, took the pictures up at the family cabin. Once I have the actual invitation, I'll post it as well.
