Family reunions and Pioneer Day things

For those not living in Utah, Pioneer Day (July 24th) celebrates the day that the Mormon pioneers entered the Great Salt Lake Valley and Brigham Young declared "This is the right place. Drive on!" The slogan has been shortened to "This is the place" and we light off fireworks the entire month of July because of it. Fireworks companies love Utah in July.

Mr. Perfect's parents had a luncheon on Friday with some of Dad M's brothers and sisters, and then Most Happy Girl's family had a camp-over family reunion at a park in Taylorsville. Yes, you read that correctly. We camped out at a park in Taylorsville City. It was pretty cool. The park is called T. John Labrum Park, and it's own by several LDS stakes in the area, incluing Little Big Sis and Painter Extraordinaire's. Favorite Blood Brother and his family came in from Colorado. Game Boy came with us (and even camped out, too). Psycho Exercise Sis's family came for the activities Friday night, but were leaving town the next morning on a long-planned family trip.

The funnest game was the iPod singing game. You choose a song on your iPod, put in your earbuds so that only you can hear the music, and you sing along to it. You might think you know all the lyrics, but it's pretty funny when you don't remember them. Best song of the night? I'm a Lumberjack.

Enjoy the pictures.

Oh, come see Midsummer Night's Dream

Mr. Perfect and I have small but important roles in South Jordan Community Theatre's production of Midsummer Night's Dream (no we are not Titania and Bottom). Come see Most Happy Girl be stoic as Wall. See Mr. Perfect in all his girlie charm as Flute/Thisbe. You'll laugh; you'll cry. It'll be better than Cats. You'll want to see it again and again.

Doin' the Wii Fit™ thing

So as you know, I got Wii Fit™ for my birthday. Mr. Perfect and I have started a workout schedule with it. For the past two days, we've been very, very good. It's a lot of fun, but I have to admit that when the board goes "Oh!" when you step on it I just want to go to Nintendo™ and say "Really? Really? You thought that would be encouraging to people who are trying to lose weight? Really?"

Sometimes, companies don't think things through all the way.

Also, we mowed the lawn last night. Always a good workout because our mower is old and heavy. At least it is gas and not just one of those old-fashioned push mowers. Scary!

Happy reading, my little pupils.

Genius Child #2 coming home

My nephew, Genius Child #2, has been serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Belgium and France for the last two years. He'll be arriving tomorrow around 2:00 in the afternoon, fresh from the mission field. It will be amazing to see him and hear his stories first hand. But I will miss his letters.

Well, I guess I'll just have to wait until Genius Child #3 leaves for Boston, MA in September to feast on those wonderful missionary letters again.

Winter in July...and not in the good way

Okay, so my cube at work is FREEZING! Mr. Perfect laughs at me most mornings when he sees me putting on a sweater before I head out the door for work. Yes, I know it's July 6. Yes, I know it's supposed to be somewhere around 90 today. Yes, I'm still wearing this sweater to work.

He's actually very good about my lack of body heat. It works well for us, because his body temperature is high, so at night cuddling works great for us because I cool him off and he heats me up. (Stop right now, that wasn't what I meant...although that's true, too.)
