15 years and still going strong

I have attended the Utah Shakespearean Festival every year for the last 15 years.

This year it was touch and go, but Mr. Perfect and I hit the last full weekend. We didn't see all the shows, but we did see four. And they were fabulous! Big Sis came and brought Soeur M and Mom & Dad M for a treat, and it was so much fun to see some shows with them.

Friday, we saw Pride & Prejudice and The 39 Steps. On Saturday, the rest of the family arrived for Much Ado About Nothing and The Merchant of Venice. Mr. Perfect refuses to claim a favorite, but secretly, I think he liked P&P the most (he's so sensitive).

We ate at a wonderful place called The Pastry Pub. It's a Cedar City staple, especially during the Festival, and highly recommended.

I have a USF secret. I'm the person you should take with you when you go because, in 15 years, I have never had a show in the outdoor Adams Theatre rained out. Never. In 15 years. Yeah, I'm that good. Go me.

Summer is officially over!

Today is the first day of school for both Beatles Lover and Game Boy. We spent many of the past few kids' dinner nights and Saturdays shopping for new school clothes. They look really good in all their new finery and seemed to enjoy shopping, even though it was with us.

Game Boy isn't all that excited about starting school again, except he is glad to be back at at his previous junior high school. It was touch and go for a while because the kids' mom no longer lives in the area. But he was selected by one of the teachers to be a TA, and we've made arrangements to help get him to and from school each day. Ninth grade should be very good to him.

Beatles Lover has been on pins and needles for the last four weeks about school starting. She loves her new high school and has a lead in the musical this fall. They are doing Annie, and Beatles Lover will be showing off her evil side as Miss Hannigan. Also, Shnq Girl transferred to the same school for this year. They have planned their schedules accordingly.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Rehearsals are going well for the show. Last weekend, we helped build the set and paint things and make costumes. I'm afraid my wall looks a little too much like plastic (which it is), but I don't know what do to about that. Here are some pictures from a rehearsal. (Some are a little out of focus because you NEVER use flash photography to take pictures of a performance.) We all have our costumes, but not full makeup yet. Mr. Perfect's Thisbe costume is worth the price of admission alone. You can view a video preview at South Jordan Community Theatre's website.
