No, not ones we've gone to see lately (although, we do highly recommend the new Sherlock Holmes and latest Mission Impossible flicks). I mean home movies.
For Christmas, Mr. Perfect desperately wanted a really good table saw and compound miter saw. We found them on sale for an amazing price (Black Friday shopping at its best; there were only four people in line ahead of us at the Lowe's at 4:30 am, with the doors opening at 5:00). However, that left us with a little bit of a dilemma of what to give poor, neglected Most Happy Girl (yeah, right; so neglected). While perusing the Thanksgiving ads for Black Friday, we found the perfect gift for the girl who loves taking pictures and watching movies: a Panasonic fully-HD camcorder.

Drama Queen and Game Boy shine in One Acts
The Cottonwood High School Theatre Department is presenting their annual Broadway Review and Melodrama. This year, the BR is all Disney music and the Melodrama is called Stop the Presses or She's Not My Type. Drama Queen is Timon in the BR and Game Boy got the part as the villain's sidekick, a strange and wonderful character named Panhandle.
When we arrived last night, I discovered that although I had plenty of battery power to film the entire evening, I didn't have enough space on the memory card. I was able to get Drama Queen's number and a few funny bits of Game Boy's kleptomania, but we were mostly limited to still photos.

More minor home improvements
We've made some more strides in achieving two bathrooms upstairs. We've painted the second bathroom. (And a cheer goes up from the multitudes -- Yay!). There's still a little bit of touch up in the corners, but this means that it's ready for the flooring. And after the flooring, the toilet and sink. And then someday, it too will be a real bathroom. *happy sigh
I have discovered
For years and years and years I have thought that my favorite color is green. Not just any green, but a green so dark that in some lights it looks black. I have fully embraced my love of this color, but I've discovered a strange phenomenon lately. When I make a purchase for clothes or home items (sheets, towels, kitchen gadgets), the color I seem to pick the most is maroon. Hmmm.... this may require a shift in my mental paradigm. I have a plethora of both in my wardrobe, but more maroon than green.
What's a girl to do?
At least they are very complementary colors.

Back to the Utah Symphony we must go
In October 2010, we went to a Utah Symphony concert featuring a young American Pianist named Conrad Tao playing Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini. Well, he came back to play the Tchaikovsky Piano Concert #1 in B minor. You know we had to be there. So we were. Also on the program was Shostasovich's Symphony #5. Does it get any better than this? Well, in February, the symphony will be continuing their Beethoven Festival with Symphony #5 (dun dun dun DUUUUUUNNN), the Mendelssohn Violin Concert, and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concert #2 in C minor.
I'm in music heaven just thinking about it all. *happy sigh*

Is Mr. Perfect a hipster?
Mr. Perfect got some new glasses for Christmas. We had a lot of fun picking them out, and he really, really likes them. Then, one of the guys at work said, "So, they look real good if what you're going for is a hipster look."
We had no idea what he was talking about. So we went to work to find out exactly what it means to be a hipster. The Urban Dictionary has a couple of really good definitions. Our favorite is this one:
"Referring to young people of around 18-30 years of age, who drink cheap beer (most often Pabst Blue Ribbon, on occasion Budwiser), smoke Parliaments, Lucky Strikes or hard to obtain foreign cigarettes (such as Gauloises) and take recreational drugs, coke being the most popular. Use a great deal of sarcasm, claim to be ironic. Are usually less than 5% body fat, drink copious amounts of coffee and eat children's cereal. Listen to Indie Rock, rely heavily on Pitchfork Media to tell them what's cool. Don't dance at concerts. Wear a mixture of thrifted clothing and items bought at American Apparel (commonly Tri-blend v-necks) and Urban Outfitters. Extremely tight jeans worn by both sexes, pairing these with either a band or b-movie t shirt and a plaid shirt/v-neck and a cardigan along with Nike hi-tops/Vans/Keds. Females often wear retro style dresses and racerback tank tops without bras. Eschew public transport and instead choose to ride fixed-break bikes. Often claim to know about literature and film - will have googled a good deal of Vonnegut and French New Wave cinema."
Mr. Perfect wants it to be known that, although he may wear the eyewear of a hipster, he will never be a true hipster because he refuses to wear skinny jeans.
He was really just trying to go for the Buddy Holly look.

Happiness is a clean dog
Poor, poor, Psycho Wunderhund. It had been a long, long, L O N G time since he was clean. With the bathroom under construction and no working tub in the house, we've been at a loss as to how to get this puppy clean during the cold weather months.
We'll Game Boy mentioned that they wash Kevin, the German Shepard at their mom's, using one of those large tubs that you store things in. So, Mr. Perfect went and found the perfect-sized one for Psycho -- 50 gallons, dark blue. It is a thing of beauty.
And now, so is Psycho Wunderhund. We put the tub in the front yard in a sunny spot and filled it about half full with warm water from the house. He wasn't a happy camper about getting in or having water poured all over him (he made a big fuss about his face), but he did seem to like the scrubbing and rubbing and all the extra attention.
Yes, he is a thing of beauty again. And he smells a whole lot better.
Doesn't he look happy?

New Year's movie marathon, part II
For the New Year's movie marathon this year, Game Boy opted to come with us, and hence, enjoyed the fun of the helping to pick out the movies. Here are the ones we saw, in order of seeing, and how we felt about them:
Up first: War Horse (see this movie, though Mr. Perfect felt more consideration was given to cinematography than to character development)
Lastly: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (united consensus on favorite of all three)
Painter Extraordinaire, Li'l Big Sis, and Genius Child #2 saw Sherlock Holmes with us. Fun, fun fun!

Second: The Adventures of Tintin (fun and fast-paced; 3-1/2 stars out of 4 -- we didn't see it in 3D)
Lastly: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (united consensus on favorite of all three)
Painter Extraordinaire, Li'l Big Sis, and Genius Child #2 saw Sherlock Holmes with us. Fun, fun fun!
Painter Extraordinaire hits the big 5-0!
Painter Extraordinaire has hit one of those Milestones of Milestones. He has reached the ripe old age of 50. Happy birthday, to you!
To celebrate, we went out to dinner with him, Li'l Big Sis, Genius Child #1, Georgia's Sweetest Peach, and Mom & Dad P. Rex's Toadhouse...uh...I mean Texas Roadhouse was the location. Good food. Good company. And a lot of missing peanuts.
Shhhhh, I'll never tell.
Aren't they just so cute?
Yes, I'm taking your picture.
Smile!
