Drama Queen and The Women of Lockerbie
We headed down to Cedar City the past weekend to visit Drama Queen and to see her in her first main stage show at SUU. What an amazing show. I'm posting a few pictures I took during the performance. We could take non-flash photos (I asked before the show started), but unfortunately our camera has this annoying red light that helps the auto focus when the lighting is too low, so I had to stop taking pictures about half-way through the show. It is better to not annoy the actors and other audience members.

Jury duty
There was no Wordless Wednesday post yesterday because I was called in for jury duty. I made it to the final cut, but I didn't make it on to the jury (by just three people). It was a very interesting process. In 28 years of being a registered voter, it's only the third time I've had jury duty. The first time, I called every night but didn't have to go in. The second time, I had to go in, but my pool was dismissed by the judge because he had to order a continuance so the defense could study some information withheld by the prosecution (badly done, prosecution, badly done). This time, I made it all the way through the process except for the actual trial. It was really cool. I hope next time I get to be on the actual jury.
If you get the chance to serve on a jury, do it. It's a great lesson in how this part of civics works here in America, and I think it's important for everyone who is voting to understand how civics works.

The Red Door
When Mr. Perfect and I were picking out paint colors for the living room and bedroom, we hadn't really discussed what to do with the inside of the front door. The door was brown, the inside of the casing was brown, and the paint job was a little sloppy. I grew up in a world of white or wood doors, but Mr. Perfect likes doors that reflect the character of the room. He wanted the door red. I hesitated. Like I said, most of the doors in my abodes have been white or wood. He finally convinced me, and here is the result.
Mr. Perfect was so right (as usual). I love this door.
And here's a shot of the red wall.
There's still one more coat of paint for both the door and the wall, but I love how it looks with the floor and the white. And it doesn't clash with the green in the kitchen (we took a sample of it to make sure).
Huge thanks to Steve Camp, who has done all of the drywall, casing and molding, and painting. We really appreciate your skill and advice. The floor is brought to you (and us) by Todd Gee and The Hardwood Floor Company.

April Fool's pass
April Fool's Day is not a favorite holiday of mine. Growing up, we didn't do too much beyond the "Hey, your underwear is sticking out! April Fool's!" gags. This year, it almost went by without any fanfare. I did get one joke in on Mr. Perfect.
April is the month we have to renew Psycho Wunderhund's city dog license, so I went to the Taylorsville City Hall to pay the $5 fee for the new license. Afterwards, I called Mr. Perfect and told him that they wouldn't let me renew because there was a complaint filed against PW and a $500 fine we had to pay before the end of the month or it would double. He asked when the complaint was filed, and I got to say "Never! April Fool's!" Okay, I hate lying. I hate how I feel when I know I'm lying. I'm really glad the Holy Ghost pricks my conscience so much; it took almost everything in me to keep up this tale as long as I did.
To wrap up the day, we went with Mr. Bishop Sir and Karen Carpenter's Vocal Double to the Utah Jazz game against the Portland Trail Blazers (the Jazz won -- way to go, Jazz!). It rained like crazy last night, and we ended up walking about 1/2 mile in the driving rain. It was a bit chilly in the arena, and my sweater and hair didn't dry completely until after we got home. But it was a lot of fun.
