Once again, Mr. Perfect earns his name

One of the things I've really been looking forward to in the kitchen remodel was a new faucet for the sink. I know that sounds a bit silly, but it's true. The one we had was old, leaking, and the pull-down for the spray would as often as not come off in your hand, leaving you completely soaked from the suddenly-released force of the water no longer held in check by the filter that's on the end of the faucet. When it stayed in place, it would give you or the wall a gentle misting spray that would soon make everything very wet.

So, yesterday was a state holiday for Utah (Pioneer Day), and Mr. Perfect had the day off. I work for a company based in Minnesota, so I did not have the day off. As part of his "Hmmm...I'm home. What should I do?" thinking, he decided it was time to replace the faucet. Last fall (yes, last fall), we purchased a new faucet for the kitchen. And the box has sat in our kitchen every since...until yesterday. I was truly the Most Happy Girl when he told me at lunch that he was about half way through the process (he'd been able to get the old one off, and putting the new one one shouldn't take as long). And when I got home from work, this is what I found:

It's so lovely, I almost cried. I love my new faucet almost as much as I love Mr. Perfect.

(P.S. Pay no attention to the mess around the sink. Just concentrate on the beautiful stream of water coming from the new fixture.)

Home again, home again, jiggity jig

It seems like all we have been doing so far this summer is running from one trip to another (I know, I know; what a horrible problem to have). This past weekend, we made our yearly jaunt down to Cedar City for the Utah Shakespeare Festival. It was a wonderful trip. Both Drama Queen and Man in Plays came, we saw all six shows (in three days no less -- whoosh!), we ate too much food, and we walked around town a lot.

I love this tradition. 18 years strong, and still no rain-outs in the outdoors Adams Theatre. Whoot whoot!

Percy and Harry visit Sherwood Forest

Our dear friend, Dizzy Dandelion, was in a wonderful production of Robin Hood: Legend of the Sherwood Bandit with Clearfield Community Theater. We loaded up the car (okay, we grabbed some jackets to ensure it wouldn't rain or be cold) and headed out into the wilderness (okay, so it's only about 25 miles from our house). And we remembered to bring Percy and Harry along.

The show was just so much fun. It's an original script, and the opening song tells us that this is "the absolutely true and not made up story of Robin Hood." How can you go wrong with a show that includes a song with that lyric? Seriously.

You could tell that the cast was having a blast, which really helps to pull in the audience. The playwright also played Sir Guy Gisbourne, and he seemed to really relish playing a baddie. Dizzy Dandelion's character was conflicted, and we weren't sure which side she would end the show on until almost the very end (good job!).

Sadly, last night was the last night of the production. It was really our only chance to see the show (Mr. Perfect is in rehearsals for West Jordan Sugar Factory Playhouse's production of South Pacific right now, and last night was a rare night-off), and we are so glad we did. It's great fun to support friends, but it's also a bonus when the show is worth both the drive and the price of admission.

Preview of things to come

It might take me a bit of time to get everything together for a post of our trip to northern Arizona for the M Family Reunion, but hopefully not too long. In the meantime, here's a teaser of things to come.
