So, Mr. Perfect sometimes gets free Jazz tickets through a business contact. Last night, we went with Painter Extraordinare and Little Big Sis to the game. The seats were great (just behind one of the hoops, the one the Jazz were scoring in for the second half) and in the lower bowel. We had a great dinner with them and Genius Child #3 before (but he didn't come to the game).
Now, the Jazz are known for letting games get away from them for the first half and into the third quarter. Nothing new last night. They were able to pull it out in the end and win 102 to 93. It was a great game, and we had a lot of fun.
We love really good business contacts.

Random thoughts about swans and dancing
So last night, Mr. Perfect and I went to Ballet West's production of Swan Lake. It was lovely. The sets, costumes, and choreography were all amazing. Okay, Seigfreid did biff one lift, so poor Odette was left standing on the stage at the end of one of their big moments, but, hey, that could happen to anyone.
But really, the truly best part was when Seigfreid and Odette commit suicide to save all of the other girls-turned-into-swans. First, Mr. Perfect starting chuckling, then I did. It was really hard to not just laugh out loud, it was that corny. No big gestures of "No I think I will kill myself by throwing myself off this cliff." No, they both just came out on the set piece that was the cliff overlooking the lake, looked out at the swans battling the bad guy, turned around, and they were gone. Not at the same time either. And both did the exact same thing. I suppose the choreographer thought it would be more corny to have them make some gesture to show what they were going to do.
But seriously, it was a beautiful production. Even Mr. Perfect enjoyed it. I think he enjoyed it more because he got to laugh at part of it.

Obessing over how many people are looking at my writing
I've been obsessing with the counter I added to my blog. I love to see it reach a new milestone. Hey, another 10 people have viewed this blog. Oh look, it's reached 100! Now it's over 200. Soon it will be over 300. What will I be like when it finally hits 10,000?
Okay, okay, I know that sounds very narcissistic, but I'm a writer. I want people to read what I've written. Currently, most of what I write is read by people who are trying to figure out how to use their software. It's a little depressing, because I'm supposed to write in a way that other people can't tell that it's me who is writing it. It's supposed to sound like everyone else in my department. That way, if I need to take over someone else's project, you can't tell it's changed hands. The most fun I get is when I create an interactive demo. We get to be more creative with those, and I'm the "demo princess" (yeah, don't laugh), so my style is the main stamp on all of them, even the ones I don't make. Yes!
And some day, when I finally get up the nerve, I'll submit my manuscript to an editor and see if there's any hope for it to get published. That's a very scary thought. I wonder if I could take the kind of rejection you have to go through before someone finally says yes. If any one out there reading this is interested in it, I could post excerpts every now and then of it. It's a novelization of Cinderella. I wrote it back before the Harry Potter craze hit and suddenly YA fantasy took off. Wish I'd submitted before it now, because it will look like I'm just following the crowd. Live and learn.
Happy reading, my little pupils.

Last weekend of The Odd Couple
It's the last weekend and final two performances of The Odd Couple. I love doing shows, but you always get that point when you are ready for it to be over. I couldn't imagine doing it every day for months at a time. Of course, this isn't my main job, so maybe that would make a big difference.
I've really enjoyed doing this show, especially with Mr. Perfect. We've had so much fun learning lines together (even though we're only briefly on stage at the same time). He's done an amazing job with Murray. I can't wait to do another show with him, hopefully with both of us in bigger roles. We'll have to see.

Happy Anniversary to Us!
Today is our first anniversary. Because it was also fast Sunday, we didn't do anything fun for breakfast (like eating in bed or making Swedish pancakes), but we did have a lot of parents over for dinner. We also had Most Happy Girl's favorite non-homemade cake (white with lemon filling) from her favorite bakery (Glaus). Here are some pictures of it.
Don't look too closely; his eyes are closed.
The full cake. Ask me sometime about the ruined corner. It's a pretty funny story.
Mr. Perfect gave Most Happy Girl some fun things from Pampered Chef (though he had as much fun at the party and won all the games [he is a bit competitive]). Most Happy Girl gave Mr. Perfect a new antenna and rear window cleaner squirter for the Exterra. We love getting AM radio nice and clear again. This morning, Mr. Perfect surprised Most Happy Girl with her favorite dark chocolate truffles, and she surprised him with a CD of fun/romantic songs. It's good to be us.
