On Tuesday, Mr. Perfect went in for a basic colonoscopy. Things went really well. He's one healthy boy, but doesn't he look really cute in his hospital gown?
I know, right?
After the procedure was over, he was WAAAYYY loopy from the drugs, and we were warned not to let him make any important personal or business decisions until the affects were completely gone (they recommend 24 hours). We got him home, and everything is swell. (Not swollen; just swell. -- See? I warned you about TMI.)
Then yesterday morning I got a call at about 11:30 from Little Big Sis that Genius Child #1 was in the hospital with appendicitis. She said that his appendix had burst after they got to the hospital, and he would be going into surgery in a couple of hours. Well, he came through the surgery great. They had to dig around a bit to find the thing (it was hiding behind his colon), but they were able to use a laparoscopic procedure instead of cutting him wide open. They're keeping him in the hospital for a couple of days, just to make sure there's no lingering infection from the leaky appendix. It is amazing what antibiotics can do these days.
You have to understand that we don't want to hear "Painter Extraordinaire and Little Big Sis's family" and "appendicitis" in the same sentence, because about 20 years ago, Painter Extraordinaire died when he had his appendix taken out. Died. For a few minutes. He did come back. We're not telling Georgia's Sweetest Peach the full story just yet. Not until GC#1 has been out of the hospital for at least three weeks.
Maybe four.
