Fall pictures
Mr. Perfect and Most Happy Girl had a chance to sit for our favorite photography, Melina Moore. Isn't she amazing?

Once again, Mr. Perfect earns his name
One of the things I've really been looking forward to in the kitchen remodel was a new faucet for the sink. I know that sounds a bit silly, but it's true. The one we had was old, leaking, and the pull-down for the spray would as often as not come off in your hand, leaving you completely soaked from the suddenly-released force of the water no longer held in check by the filter that's on the end of the faucet. When it stayed in place, it would give you or the wall a gentle misting spray that would soon make everything very wet.
So, yesterday was a state holiday for Utah (Pioneer Day), and Mr. Perfect had the day off. I work for a company based in Minnesota, so I did not have the day off. As part of his "Hmmm...I'm home. What should I do?" thinking, he decided it was time to replace the faucet. Last fall (yes, last fall), we purchased a new faucet for the kitchen. And the box has sat in our kitchen every since...until yesterday. I was truly the Most Happy Girl when he told me at lunch that he was about half way through the process (he'd been able to get the old one off, and putting the new one one shouldn't take as long). And when I got home from work, this is what I found:
It's so lovely, I almost cried. I love my new faucet almost as much as I love Mr. Perfect.
(P.S. Pay no attention to the mess around the sink. Just concentrate on the beautiful stream of water coming from the new fixture.)

How cool is this?
Several years ago, Mr. Perfect was asked by the Dean of the College of Architecture + Planning at the University of Utah if he would be interested in teaching graduate architecture students about structural engineering. This semester, it finally happened. In January, Mr. Perfect began his first official stint as an auxiliary faculty member of the U. He has an eight-week contract and is teaching wood structures to a class of about 15 students.
It's been fun to watch...most of the time. He's had to learn how to balance teaching (planning lessons, preparing quizzes and projects, grading assignments and quizzes) with staying on top of his load at work. Lots of late nights. Overall, I think he's really enjoying it. I'm not surprised that he's a natural teacher. He's so patient and knowledgeable, especially in his profession. He's past the halfway mark. There are only three more weeks of classes for him. Someone else will teach the next half of the semester. Maybe steel.
I hope that he's enjoying it enough to do it again, though he's not sure about the pressure of keeping up with everything. While it's a lot of fun to tell people that my husband is teaching college, it's even more fun to watch him take on a new challenge and excel at it.

It's birthday time for Mr. Perfect
Mr. Perfect's birthday has come and gone again for another year. We celebrated for three days (Friday through Sunday), and he got to eat a lot of really good food, open really fun presents, see a really good movie, and be serenaded by the Cottonwood High School Madrigals (nice job, guys!) at the Ward Christmas Party.
On Friday, Game Boy had a date (oh. my. goodness!), so we decided to have our own date night and try out a new restaurant. We went to BRIO Tuscan Grill, and now we have a new favorite Italian restaurant. Our server was amazing; she had the best ideas of what we should eat. We had prosciutto bruschetta, lobster bisque, and a grilled trout that melted in your mouth. May I just say that my tummy was very happy but rather uncomfortably full.
On Saturday (the actual birthday), Mr. Perfect picked homemade waffles for breakfast and got to open his first present, which turned out to be new backpack sleeping mats. They go inside your sleeping bags and are incredibly more comfortable than the old ones we've been using.
He had to go into the office for a few hours (boo! it was Saturday AND his birthday after all), so Game Boy and Most Happy Girl did a little more birthday and Christmas shopping. When everyone was home, Mr. Perfect opened this stunning sweater:
and we headed off to see Life of Pi (highly recommended movie). Next, it was the Ward Christmas Party for dinner and entertainment by the aforementioned Cottonwood High School Madrigals. Most Happy Girl had to stay and help clean up, but Mr. Perfect and Game Boy were ready to leave, so they walked home. It snowed most of the day, so I was very happy to find them snug and safe inside the house when I got there.
Sunday, we made beef stroganoff (with grilled steak) for dinner and homemade sea-salt ice cream (Game Boy has been wanted to make this for a long time) for dessert. Mr. Perfect also opened the last of his presents. Well, really he just got them out of the trunk of the car. New 0° F backpacking sleeping bags (if we can figure out how to make them small enough to go in the sleeping bag area of the backpacks).
I think Mr. Perfect enjoyed himself very much.
