A bridal shower for Georgia's Sweetest Peach

The Countdown to Atlanta has begun. Genius Child #1 and Georgia's Sweetest Peach are getting married in the LDS Atlanta Georgia Temple on February 29, 2012.

Isn't it pretty?

Most Happy Girl got together with Skywalker's Mom and Psycho Exercise Sis to host the Utah-based family shower. It was great fun.

Day Seven

I had my dream wedding. Really. I got to marry my best friend in the House of the Lord, with the promise that if we love God, love each other, and try as best we can to live the commandments, we'll be together forever, as husband and wife. After that, what does it matter where the reception is, or what food is served (you don't get to eat much of it anyway, believe me!), or even who comes or doesn't come. You want your dream wedding? Marry the right person in the right place. All the rest is secondary.

A quick random note

We're currently without internet at home, so I haven't been able to write here for a bit. We're hoping to have that resolved by the end of this week. Just so you all know (and I'm sure you're all dying to find out what I've been up to), we're enjoying married life. We're also in the process of trying to figure out where to put all the stuff from the condo and all the wedding presents. ARRGGGHHHH!!!! What a job! It looks like we'll have quite the yard sale ready by the end of March.

A few pictures from the wedding

People keep asking for these, so here is one from the reception and a few from the temple that Painter Extraodinaire and Genius Child #3 took for us.

What a wonderful world

The wedding was, in a word, exquisite. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. The temple was wonderful. The weather cooperated perfectly. The reception went off without any major problems or meltdowns.

Things to be most thankful for:
  • WonderMom-o-7, Crazy Theatre Chick, and the whole kitchen gang. WonderMom-o-7's husband, Man of Faith, and oldest daughter, Cutie Patutie, were completely amazing. Everyone can't stop talking about the food...still. More than a week later, we are still hearing about how amazing the food was...and it truly was amazing.
  • (I know I've used that word at least three times in this bullet point, but I don't care. It is the perfect word to describe the most amazing food.)
  • Flowers. The flowers were gorgeous: the bouquet, the boutonnieres and corsages, the girls' stems, my hair. And the cake.
  • Wholly cow, the cake. How about that cake? Big Sis more than outdid herself on the cake. It looked stunning and tasted even better than it looked.
  • The Music Makers (this is really the name of the band; no blog name for them because they deserve the publicity). People danced, they spooned, they just enjoyed the sound. Many, many compliments on the music; all highly deserved. Thanks to Gordon and the Gang!
  • To Brian Koka at A Moment Captured Photography. We love our pictures. Thank you!
  • Something Borrowed is the most amazing company. Call them. Use them. You will not be disappointed.
  • There is no way we could adequately thank our family and friends who made the whole day run smoothly. All we can do is say "Thank you! We love you all!".

T-minus two days...and counting

The Final Countdown has begun. (Okay, I know, the final countdown began the second I put a countdown wicket on this blog.)

Things that are finished:
  1. The temple
  2. The marriage license
  3. Temple recommends for the ceremony
  4. The food (completely under the control of WonderMom-o-7 and Crazy Theatre Chick)
  5. The dress
  6. The invitations (though I keep thinking of people I forgot)
  7. The tuxedos (we pick them up tomorrow)
  8. The decorations
  9. The music
  10. The pictures
  11. The building (pick up the keys sometime today)
  12. Arranging for the set up of the tables
  13. Hair appointments for me and the girls
  14. Everyone's clothes
  15. The family dinner on Friday
Can I stop now?

Whew!

Last week of work before the wedding

This last week of work before taking off time for the wedding has been too long and too short. Too long, because I really want to be doing other things. And too short, because I need to be doing other things, but work has been crazy-busy.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy my job and love the people I work with. It's just that flowers are coming on Wednesday, and I still need to pick up the cape from StageManager Extraordinaire's husband and find more trays for WonderMom-o-7 for all the food and more people to help her in the kitchen during the reception. Plus tonight there's a band gig at Thanksgiving Point (charity ball at the Show Barn, if you're into giving for charity). Then tomorrow is Sweet-Sweet Lady and The J-Man's wedding.

Does everyone start panicking the last week before the wedding? I hope so. I don't want to be the only one who's ever gone through this.

How does a girl get to be so lucky?

I seriously work with the best people in the world. My friends surprised me with a gift card from Target and this lovely (and delicious) cake. As you can see, we ate the whole thing (with one piece left for Mr. Perfect).

A request for more wedding photos

I've had a request for more pictures from the engagement and bridal sessions, so here are some more of our favorites.
