Jury duty

There was no Wordless Wednesday post yesterday because I was called in for jury duty. I made it to the final cut, but I didn't make it on to the jury (by just three people). It was a very interesting process. In 28 years of being a registered voter, it's only the third time I've had jury duty. The first time, I called every night but didn't have to go in. The second time, I had to go in, but my pool was dismissed by the judge because he had to order a continuance so the defense could study some information withheld by the prosecution (badly done, prosecution, badly done). This time, I made it all the way through the process except for the actual trial. It was really cool. I hope next time I get to be on the actual jury.

If you get the chance to serve on a jury, do it. It's a great lesson in how this part of civics works here in America, and I think it's important for everyone who is voting to understand how civics works.

I've been called up 3 times, but they never pick me either, because once I say I work in a law office, they don't want me anymore.
